What is Pressure Washing?
“Pressure washing” and “power washing” are terms that people typically use interchangeably like they are the same thing. Although they do have similarities, they also have differences. Power washing uses the same high-powered technique, but it incorporates the use of warm water to enhance cleaning. What is Soft Washing?
Soft washing is a technique that also uses water at lower pressures. When you use pressure washing on porous or more fragile surfaces, you do run the risk of causing damage. Soft washing uses a pressure washer with the pressure turned down and in combination with solvents and cleaners that are specifically designed to aid in the washing process. Soft washing is a better method for things like painted wood, furniture, stained decks, and roofing material. The solvents used are both eco-friendly and biodegradable, so there is no harm in using them.
How Do You Know What to Use Where?
Although people often assume that pressure washing is an excellent do-it-yourself project, it really isn’t unless you have the proper training and equipment to get all of your exterior spaces clean. If you use pressure washing on a surface that isn’t hardy enough for the high-powered pressure, then you can unwittingly do a lot of damage. This is why doing it yourself is probably not a good idea.
